Kalkman Code is my own output — commissioned software, apps I release, the infrastructure I run, and one-off sites made to mark a wedding or remember someone. One person, in Suffolk, shipping directly.
Two economies, one workshop
The same hands build both. What separates them is not quality or effort — it is whether you asked me for it or I decided to release it.
If you ask me to build it, it costs
Being asked is what makes it paid work, and there is no exception to that. The price does not turn on what you intend to do with it. At the end you hold the source, the database and the intellectual property outright — not a licence, and not access that ends when I do.
That handover is the reason a commission costs what it costs. It is not an extra sold back to you later; it is priced in from the start, and it is the expensive part.

Some of what I build, I built for my own reasons. Once it works, handing the same thing to everybody else costs me nothing, so I hand it over — no catch, no trial, no nag screen.
That is a decision I make about my own work rather than something anybody applies for. It is also the front door: people find the released thing, and the commissions follow from it.
What I give awayA working record, not a service menu
Some of this was commissioned, some released, some runs quietly and belongs to nobody but me.
HorseDex
A health journal for a horse. You write down what you did and what you saw; it keeps the record and shows it back to you over time, for one horse or for several. Built for one person to begin with, then rebuilt so anyone could use it, and released free on the App Store.
everafter
A wedding page that becomes a remembering page. Guests view the day, add their own photos and video, and leave a note. After the date it flips to remembering mode and counts the anniversaries.
TKVoiP
A telephony and call-handling interface built around one specific way of working, rather than bending that way of working around someone else’s software.
Weddings, memorials, one-off occasions
A day worth marking deserves better than a template with somebody else’s branding on it and a renewal date attached.
Made for the one occasion
Your names, your running order, your photographs, your wording. Built for that day and nothing else, which is exactly why it does not feel like a product.

Where the other two come in
I run three businesses and keep them apart on purpose, so each one can be aimed properly. Code is what I ship myself.
