HorseDex
A health journal for your horse. You write down what you did and what you saw; HorseDex keeps it and shows the record back to you over time, for one horse or several.
iPhone, iPad and Mac. Android is a Google Play closed test. horsedex.co.uk

Your record, kept by you
No account, no server
Everything stays on your device, with an optional backup to your own iCloud that only you can read. Nothing is collected.
It never diagnoses
No score, no grade, no verdict. Your notes sit side by side and you are the one who reads them. Diagnosis is your vet’s work.
A report for your vet
A PDF of everything recorded across a range of dates, emailed from the app with the record written out in the message.
One horse or several
Start a new horse from everything another one has, choose what to bring across, or start clean.
What it does

Log the day
Log opens on today and the last seven days. Write down exercise, feed, how they were in themselves, weights and body condition, who came out and what the vet prescribed. Nothing is compulsory: a new journal asks about very little until you switch the rest on.

Read it back over time
Trends puts your notes, measurements, exercise totals and competition results side by side over time, on cards you can arrange or switch off. Read any day back in the Diary, or search for what you wrote.

Know what is due
The care register knows when the farrier is due and can remind you to book before they are full. When something is going on, keep an episode: a start, updates with photographs, and an end.

Plan the week
Plan a week around your bookings, or look further ahead in the month view. Lessons can repeat weekly or fortnightly, and a single date can be moved or skipped. Suggestions follow the days and activities you have usually done over the last eight weeks, and your own rules come first. A holiday cover sheet gathers what someone needs while they look after your horse.

See what it costs
Spending shows what it all costs, month by month: care visits, hay, bedding, livery and arena hire. A cost that comes round every month can repeat, and counting what you use tells you roughly when the hay runs out.

Look after the land
If you manage land, Land keeps the yard jobs, like harrowing and fence checks, and which horse is in which paddock. It stays off until you switch it on.

FAQs
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account and no server of mine. Your records stay on your devices, with an optional backup to your own iCloud.
Does it tell me what is wrong with my horse?
No. It never scores, grades or gives a verdict. Your notes sit side by side and you read them; diagnosis is your vet’s work. Report makes a PDF of a range of dates for you to take to them.
Can I keep more than one horse in it?
Yes, one horse or several. A new horse can start from everything another one has, from the parts you choose, or from nothing.
Is it on Android?
Yes, as a Google Play closed test for now. Ask to join at horsedex.co.uk/android with the Google account your phone signs in with, and I add you to the test.
Is it really free?
Yes. Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
